It’s tempting to enter 2021 with blind optimism, eager to put the challenges of 2020 behind us. However, to learn as much as possible from the adversities we all faced last year, we’d like to suggest that we begin 2021 with a brief period of reflection.
Rather than making a New Year’s Resolution this year, perhaps more can be achieved by reflecting on the challenges of 2020 and how those experiences will shape 2021 and beyond. Life sciences organizations were thrust into the limelight as the race to develop effective treatments and vaccines played out on the global stage.
Pharma and biotech firms demonstrated unprecedented adaptability to devote resources to these efforts and develop new technologies, while also coping with new work from home models for many functions. Reflecting on these changes has the potential for a lasting impact on the industry and the critical role life sciences plays in ensuring public health and a functioning society.
