Our client is a rapidly growing life sciences services organization supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, and research customers globally. Their portfolio spans biospecimens, primary cells, disease-state samples, research services, and drug discovery support solutions.
As part of an ongoing investment in commercial excellence, they are seeking a Regional Director, Business Development to lead a high-performing sales team across the Eastern United States.
This is a critical leadership hire focused on building commercial capability, developing talent, driving accountability, and accelerating revenue growth. The successful individual will play a key role in shaping the future commercial organization and will have significant visibility with executive leadership.
The Role
The Regional Director will lead a team of business development professionals across a diverse territory spanning major biotechnology and pharmaceutical hubs.
This individual will be responsible for:
- Driving regional commercial strategy and execution
- Developing and mentoring a team of sales professionals
- Increasing hunting activity and new customer acquisition
- Improving forecasting accuracy and CRM discipline
- Building relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders
- Creating a culture of accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement
This is a highly field-oriented leadership role requiring regular customer engagement and time spent coaching sales representatives in-market.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
- Lead and execute regional sales strategy to achieve revenue growth targets
- Develop and implement sales plans aligned with broader organizational objectives
- Drive pipeline development, opportunity management, and forecasting discipline
- Utilize CRM and commercial metrics to improve performance and decision-making
- Partner with senior leadership to support strategic commercial initiatives
Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of business development professionals
- Create structured training and development programs
- Establish performance standards, KPIs, and accountability measures
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and talent development activities
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain executive-level customer relationships
- Support strategic negotiations and complex commercial opportunities
- Gather and communicate market, customer, and competitive intelligence
- Act as a visible ambassador for the organization within the life sciences community
Sales Excellence
- Drive CRM adoption and sales process consistency
- Lead regional forecasting and demand planning activities
- Improve commercial effectiveness through data-driven leadership
- Support cross-functional collaboration across commercial, marketing, and operations teams
Candidate Profile

Preferred Experience
- 7+ years of life sciences commercial leadership experience
- Previous management of business development or sales teams
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing sales professionals
- Strong experience managing pipelines, forecasts, and revenue targets
- Demonstrated success driving new business growth
- Experience implementing sales processes and performance metrics
- Track record leading through organizational growth or change
- Strong executive presence and customer-facing communication skills

Location
Remote within the Eastern United States.
Greater Boston is preferred; however, candidates located throughout the Northeast with the ability to travel regularly across key pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets will be considered. Travel of approximately 50% should be expected.
