The Opportunity
We are partnering with an established private equity investor with a long and successful track record of building specialist life sciences technology and instrumentation businesses into category leaders. The fund is launching a new sector platform in the bioprocess and analytical instrumentation space - bringing together a number of high-quality but individually subscale technology businesses to create a single, scaled platform. This is a pre-platform, operator-led initiative.
The Role
Working closely with the investment team, board and (subsequently) management, you will:
- Partner with the deal team pre-deal to shape, refine and pressure-test the platform thesis.
- Provide technical and commercial conviction on prospective targets - assessing technology, product roadmaps and, critically, how each maps to real customer workflows.
- Bring domain credibility to diligence across the thesis-development period, helping to evaluate and prioritise a small number of complementary acquisition targets.
- Support the path to Investment Committee approval and help maintain momentum as the platform takes shape.
- Post-completion help build and scale the platform - this is not necessarily a CEO seat; the role can flex to Executive Chair, divisional or advisory leadership depending on background and fit.
- Contribute an operator's network, market intelligence, and integration experience throughout.
Candidate Profile
We are interested in speaking with senior leaders who have operated at or near the top of bioprocess and/or analytical/scientific instrumentation businesses, including:
- CEO, President, Managing Director / General Manager, Division or Business Unit President, CCO, CTO, or existing Operating Partner / Executive Advisor.
- Deep experience within analytical instrumentation, bioprocess hardware/tools, sensors/PAT, or life science tools - ideally instrument- and technology-led rather than pure services.
- Strong grasp of customer workflows and how technology creates value within them.
- A track record across M&A, integration, buy-and-build, and value creation, with the ability to articulate measurable outcomes.
- Comfort engaging early and pre-deal, across thesis and diligence, with the appetite to help build rather than inherit.
- Experience operating within private equity-backed or high-growth environments is highly attractive.
