Embedded Systems Engineer
Job Title: Embedded Systems & Test Automation Consultant - Medical Devices
Location: Germany (Remote or On-Site)
Contract Type: Freelance / Contract
Duration: 6-12 months (with potential extension)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems & Test Automation Consultant to support the development and validation of advanced medical technologies. This freelance role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong background in embedded software, hardware integration, and automated testing within regulated environments.
Important Requirements:
- Must have prior experience in the medical device industry. Applications without this experience will not be considered.
- Must have the right to work in Germany. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support the development of embedded software and hardware integration for medical devices
- Design and implement automated test frameworks for GUI and system-level validation
- Collaborate with international, agile teams to accelerate development cycles
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and quality standards
- Develop engineering tools to streamline testing, validation, and documentation processes
Essential Skills & Experience:
- 15+ years in R&D or engineering roles within the medical technology sector
- Strong programming skills in Python and C#/.NET
- Experience with embedded Linux systems and hardware-software integration
- Proficiency in GUI test automation tools (e.g., Squish)
- Proven ability to build custom test frameworks and reduce regression testing time
- Familiarity with regulated environments and engineering validation processes
- Excellent communication skills in German (required); English is a plus
Desirable:
- Experience with surgical devices, lab automation systems, or imaging technologies
- Background in agile development and international project coordination
