Overview
The Senior Account Manager - Publications leads strategic client relationships across healthcare and pharma accounts, overseeing scientific and promotional publication deliverables. This role manages end‑to‑end development of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and congress materials while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Management
- Serve as the main client contact for publication and medical communications workstreams.
- Build strong relationships with brand, medical, and publication teams.
- Translate scientific and strategic objectives into actionable publication plans.
- Identify opportunities to grow publication and congress support.
Scientific Publications & Deliverables
Manage development and delivery of:
- Manuscripts, abstracts, and posters
- Scientific slide decks and data visuals
- Congress materials and submission workflows
- HCP promotional assets, digital content, and patient education materials
Compliance & Workflow Management
- Guide teams through MLR/PRC review processes.
- Ensure adherence to GPP, ICMJE, and client-specific publication standards.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (medical writing, editorial, creative, project management) to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
Project & Financial Oversight
- Lead project planning, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Maintain budgets, forecasting, and account financial performance.
- Support SOW development and identify expansion opportunities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior team members on publication processes and client communication.
- Improve internal workflows for publication and congress deliverables.
- Foster strong collaboration across scientific, creative, and client service teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; life sciences or communications background preferred.
- 5-8+ years in healthcare advertising, medical communications, or publications.
- Experience with manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and pharma MLR processes.
- Strong client management, communication, and multitasking skills.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Veeva PromoMats and publication tools.
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Understanding of scientific data and medical writing workflows.
