Job Summary
The Product Marketing Manager will oversee product strategy and market performance for an assigned portfolio of medical devices. This role includes strategic planning, pricing analysis, portfolio management, competitive assessments, and budgeting. The position also provides strategic marketing guidance, supports product development efforts, conducts business case analyses, and collaborates cross‑functionally to define and execute portfolio strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for medical device marketing, particularly within the surgical environment.
Additionally, the Product Marketing Manager will lead commercial execution for new product introductions and develop marketing programs that drive procedure adoption among targeted surgeon and patient groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and successful execution of marketing programs.
- Expand expertise across different marketing channels and tactics.
- Provide creative, strategic solutions to support product and business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve marketing goals.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to identify business and product improvement opportunities.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned product categories.
Conduct market trend analysis, evaluate pricing and promotions, monitor competitive dynamics, and report progress toward goals. - Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans, including objectives, strategies, tactics, competitive analysis, product assessments, and timelines. Track results and adjust plans as needed.
- Lead upstream marketing activities for product development initiatives.
- Gather user needs through surveys, clinical observations, data collection, and labs. Create business requirements and support development milestones.
- Manage multiple projects while collaborating with Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations, Regulatory, and Quality teams to ensure successful program execution.
- Oversee creation of support materials, advertising, and collateral in partnership with marketing teams and agencies, ensuring compliance with branding and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage marketing budgets, forecasts, and expenses for assigned product lines, events, promotions, and literature.
- Evaluate new product opportunities, line extensions, and market expansion potential through opportunity assessments and business case modeling.
- Provide insights on competitive comparisons, market dynamics, sales enablement materials, and strategic marketing initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, engineers, and product development teams to define market and product requirements for new technologies and procedures.
- Assess pricing strategy and profitability, recommending adjustments aligned with corporate goals.
- Coordinate with Regulatory and Quality teams on product complaints and resolution.
- Ensure product activities comply with applicable FDA regulations, GMP, and ISO 13485 standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department and company.
- Follow internal policies and procedures related to the Quality Management System and industry regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in life sciences, healthcare, or medical device marketing, including 3-4 years of P&L management.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the medical device market, operating room environment, hospital purchasing processes, and ambulatory surgical facilities preferred.
- Comfortable working in clinical environments such as operating rooms or labs.
- Strong ability to develop effective marketing content within a highly regulated industry.
- Proven experience developing and executing comprehensive marketing plans.
- Strong analytical abilities, including financial modeling, forecasting, and competitive market analysis.
- Experience in budgeting, pricing, and managing marketing expenditures.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate reporting and analysis.
- Outstanding communication, relationship‑building, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to represent the company professionally in customer‑facing settings.
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive business information.
- Ability to work within an operating room environment and observe surgical procedures.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%, including occasional weekends, domestically and internationally.
