Job Summary - Medical Science Liaison - North Germany
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a scientific partner to external medical experts, building long-term, peer-to-peer relationships and acting as a trusted source of medical and clinical knowledge. The role supports product and company strategy by gathering and translating external insights on clinical data, treatment practices, and market dynamics, while helping shape scientific understanding and acceptance ahead of and throughout a product's lifecycle.
The MSL drives regional scientific engagement through expert interactions, presentations, and education initiatives, and supports the planning and execution of clinical and non-interventional studies (including RCTs, NIS, and IIS). Responsibilities also include identifying key opinion leaders, monitoring the competitive and clinical landscape, contributing to scientific projects, and collaborating cross-functionally with internal stakeholders. Overall, the role is accountable for advancing scientific exchange, enabling evidence generation, and supporting lifecycle management in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external experts (KEEs) and healthcare professionals
- Act as the regional scientific point of contact for medical and clinical topics
- Plan and execute field-based activities, including face-to-face engagements and events
- Identify, engage, and develop new expert networks and partnerships
- Deliver scientific presentations and support external education initiatives
- Organise and lead regional meetings, advisory boards, and training events
- Gather and communicate actionable medical and market insights to internal teams
- Support clinical research activities, including RCTs, NIS, and investigator-initiated studies (IIS)
- Facilitate study placement, site support, and lifecycle management of evidence generation
- Monitor scientific literature, clinical developments, and the competitive landscape
- Represent the organisation at congresses and provide medical support on-site
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, and Training teams
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, regulations, and data protection standards
Key Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a life sciences discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of clinical research, study design, and medical data interpretation
- Experience in Medical Affairs, MSL, or a related field-facing scientific role preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage expert audiences
- Strong networking and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a field-based, regional role
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable outcomes
- High level of scientific curiosity and commitment to continuous learning
- Fluency in English and German
