MSL- Epilepsy (Northeast)
A rapidly growing biotechnology company focused on advancing innovative therapies for epilepsy patients is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to support the Northeast United States territory. This field-based Medical Affairs role offers the opportunity to engage with leading healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) while serving as a trusted scientific resource within a specialized therapeutic area. The successful candidate will play a critical role in fostering scientific exchange, gathering field insights, supporting medical strategy, and contributing to the continued growth of an innovative, patient-focused organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with neurologists, epileptologists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals throughout the territory.
- Serve as the primary field-based scientific expert for marketed products and pipeline assets.
- Conduct compliant scientific exchanges regarding clinical data, disease state education, treatment paradigms, and emerging research.
- Gather actionable insights from external stakeholders and communicate findings to internal Medical Affairs leadership.
- Support medical congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and educational initiatives.
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with accurate, balanced, and evidence-based scientific information.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for investigator-sponsored research and scientific collaboration.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams while maintaining appropriate compliance boundaries.
- Monitor and communicate developments within the competitive landscape and relevant therapeutic area.
Qualifications
- Advanced clinical or scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DNP, NP, PA, or equivalent).
- 2+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience preferred.
- Experience in Neurology, Epilepsy, CNS, Neuroscience, Rare Disease, or other specialty therapeutic areas strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.
- Strong scientific acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical data.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across a large geographic territory.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned region.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting epilepsy products.
- Biotechnology or specialty pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Product launch experience.
- Experience engaging academic medical centers and large integrated health systems.
- Strong understanding of industry regulations and Medical Affairs compliance requirements.
