Position Overview
In this role, the Associate Director will serve as the primary analytics lead for the Hematology/Oncology business unit. The position will be instrumental in developing and owning advanced analytical capabilities that enable data-driven commercial and strategic decision-making across the hematology portfolio. This individual will translate complex analyses into impactful insights for senior commercial leadership and partner closely with Marketing, Sales, HEOR, and Medical teams to drive performance and strategic clarity. This centralized function supports enterprise-wide strategy, pipeline planning, business development, forecasting, business insights, and shared commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Analytics & Strategy
- Act as a trusted analytics advisor to Hematology Marketing by applying data, KPIs, modeling, and advanced analytics to uncover growth opportunities and identify brand risks.
- Lead the semi-annual marketing mix analysis for Hematology brands, including data aggregation, stakeholder alignment, model review, and interpretation of outputs for strategic relevance.
- Partner with Marketing teams to design indication-specific customer target lists that support omnichannel and non-personal promotion strategies.
Executive & Commercial Leadership Support
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and root-cause investigations to address ad hoc questions from commercial and enterprise leaders, delivering actionable recommendations.
- Proactively propose analytical frameworks and methodologies that support integrated, enterprise-level decision-making.
HEOR & Medical Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with HEOR and Medical Affairs to align on patient identification approaches using claims, laboratory, EHR, and real‑world data sources.
- Define, standardize, and document analytical methodologies used to generate core performance metrics, including market share, duration of therapy, line of therapy, and share of brand.
Sales & Sales Operations
- Lead cross-functional targeting initiatives by organizing working sessions, preparing analytical materials, and recommending appropriate data sources such as claims, specialty pharmacy, CRM, and segmentation data.
- Partner with Sales Operations to deploy key targeting metrics within Veeva CRM, track quarter-over-quarter changes, and identify opportunities for ongoing process optimization.
Forecasting & Planning
- Update and maintain quarterly forecast assumptions and datasets supporting both near-term and long-range planning cycles.
Advanced Analytics & Innovation
- Collaborate with broader Advanced Analytics and Data Science teams on initiatives that expand enterprise capabilities in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or related field) with 7+ years of hands-on analytics experience; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex analyses to address commercial, market, and brand performance questions.
Technical Expertise
- Strong proficiency in SQL, R, and/or Python.
- Experience working with major pharmaceutical datasets, including:
- National prescription and sales data (e.g., IQVIA NPA/NSP)
- Longitudinal HCP and patient-level claims data (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo, Veeva Compass)
- Tokenized real-world data sources (lab, genomic, EHR/EMR)
- Specialty pharmacy, market access, hub, and formulary data
- Marketing engagement and digital analytics platforms
- CRM systems such as Veeva or Salesforce
- Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, cloud-based environments) and BI/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire).
Analytical & Business Skills
- Experience applying advanced methods such as supervised and unsupervised learning, forecasting, marketing mix modeling, segmentation, clustering, A/B testing, portfolio optimization, and patient journey analytics.
- Ability to synthesize diverse data sources into clear, persuasive narratives and executive-ready insights.
- Proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from requirements gathering through delivery, in a fast‑paced and evolving environment.
- Strong strategic mindset with working knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial, medical, and market access functions.
- Prior experience in oncology or rare disease analytics strongly preferred.
Communication & Collaboration
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex analytical findings for senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable influencing across functions and levels, partnering with commercial, medical, and technical teams.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable operating with ambiguity while consistently delivering high‑impact results.
Location & Travel
- Boston-based candidates preferred; hybrid schedule with 2-3 days onsite per week.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for internal meetings, workshops, and industry conferences as needed.
