- Duration: 5 months (potential for extension or long-term engagement)
- Start: ASAP
- Engagement: W2 contract
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join us on a contract basis to optimize and lock down our plasma-to-cell-free DNA (cfDNA) extraction pipeline ahead of commercial launch.
This is a hands-on role focused on resolving variability in automated workflows and ensuring a robust, reproducible pre-analytical process.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the plasma-to-cfDNA extraction workflow
- Diagnose and resolve batch effects and variability introduced through automation
- Optimize DNA yield, quality, and consistency across runs
- Evaluate and improve automated extraction platforms and magnetic bead-based systems
- Recommend alternative technologies, kits, or protocols where needed
- Design and implement controls to normalize batch effects
- Define and track pipeline performance metrics
- Deliver a locked, validated, and scalable workflow ready for downstream applications
Requirements
- Proven experience owning a plasma-to-cfDNA pipeline in a liquid biopsy setting
- Background in pre-analytical assay development
- Hands-on experience with automated extraction systems
- Strong understanding of magnetic bead-based workflows and failure modes
- Experience minimizing technical variability and batch effects
- Track record of implementing robust QC and normalization strategies
- Experience in leading liquid biopsy or genomics environments preferred
Outcome
You will deliver a fully optimized and reproducible cfDNA extraction pipeline with clearly defined controls and performance metrics, supporting reliable downstream analysis and commercial readiness.
