Field Application Scientist - San Fran
An innovative and fast‑growing life science organization is seeking a highly motivated Field Application Scientist (FAS) to support commercial and scientific operations across the West Coast. This role is ideal for a scientist who thrives at the intersection of customer interaction, technical problem‑solving, and scientific communication.
As an integral member of the commercial team, you will spend approximately 70% of your time partnering with Business Development to address complex customer challenges and support technical sales efforts, and 30% collaborating with Marketing to create impactful scientific content.
This is a remote role based in the Bay Area, with regular travel to customer sites, seminars, conferences, and regional scientific events.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Technical Support
- Work alongside business development partners to develop Customer Persona Maps and technical communication strategies.
- Participate in customer visits, addressing deep technical questions and managing follow‑up with internal teams.
- Track post‑visit technical issues, contribute to the knowledge base, and support troubleshooting.
- Prepare and deliver high‑impact scientific presentations for seminars, "Lunch & Learns," and other outreach activities.
- Lead project follow‑ups and post‑delivery troubleshooting for CRO engagements.
Marketing & Sales Enablement
- Develop scientific content including blogs, thematic slides, technical decks, and conference posters.
- Gather customer insights and competitive intelligence to improve sales tools and enablement materials.
- Create reusable presentation templates and convert customer data into compelling marketing collateral.
- Co‑host webinars and develop materials for sponsored technical talks to expand regional scientific impact.
Candidate Profile
Education
- PhD in Life Sciences (Biology, Immunology, Oncology, or related fields) - required.
Experience
- Strong background in protein- or antibody-related technologies.
- Experience in a customer‑facing scientific role (FAS, Technical Support, Applications) highly preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse research teams.
- Self‑driven, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Highly responsible, detail‑oriented, and committed to ownership of customer issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Travel Requirements
- Based in the Bay Area with regular travel throughout the West Coast to support customers, conferences, and on‑site technical engagements.
