We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical project based in Lombardy, Italy. This is an urgent requirement for a highly skilled engineering professional with a strong background in pharmaceutical process design and project execution.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the engineering and design phases of the project, providing technical expertise and ensuring process solutions meet operational, regulatory, and quality requirements.
This is initially a 9-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process engineering and design activities across project phases
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, process calculations, and technical specifications
  • Support conceptual, basic, and detailed design activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Ensure designs comply with GMP requirements and pharmaceutical industry standards
  • Conduct process evaluations, risk assessments, and engineering reviews
  • Support equipment selection, sizing, and process optimisation activities
  • Provide technical input during project meetings and design reviews
  • Assist with commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities where required

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years' process engineering experience within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong design engineering background with proven project delivery experience
  • Experience working within regulated GMP environments
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and facilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work on-site or in a hybrid capacity in Lombardy, Italy

Ideal Candidate Profile

An experienced Senior Process Engineer with 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, ideally gained across major capital projects and engineering design programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in process design, engineering studies, and project execution within GMP-regulated environments. Candidates who have worked on facility expansions, manufacturing upgrades, or greenfield projects within pharmaceuticals or biotech will be particularly attractive.
