Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join a growing organization in the life sciences industry. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, partnering closely with senior management to drive talent strategies, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and workforce planning initiatives.
Operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, the Senior HRBP will provide comprehensive support across the employee lifecycle while helping to shape and execute people strategies that align with business objectives. This role requires a seasoned HR professional who can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution and effectively support both corporate and commercial functions.
The ideal candidate will bring deep HR business partnering experience within the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences sector, along with demonstrated success supporting commercial organizations, including talent acquisition initiatives for sales, marketing, market access, business development, and other revenue-generating functions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to business leaders, providing guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership development, employee engagement, and talent management.
- Partner with leadership teams to align people strategies with organizational goals and drive business performance.
- Provide coaching and consultation to managers on employee relations, performance management, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with leaders to identify talent gaps and develop strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner closely with hiring managers and business leaders to support strategic hiring initiatives across commercial departments, including Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Market Access, Commercial Operations, and related functions.
- Lead and support full-cycle recruitment efforts for key business-critical roles, including workforce planning, candidate assessment, interview processes, offer development, and onboarding.
- Develop talent acquisition strategies that support organizational growth and evolving business needs.
- Work collaboratively with recruitment partners and leadership teams to ensure a high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Act as a primary resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
- Lead investigations and address complex employee relations issues in a fair, consistent, and compliant manner.
- Partner with leaders to execute performance management programs, including goal setting, performance reviews, development planning, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support managers in delivering effective feedback and driving a high-performance culture.
Talent Management & Organizational Development
- Drive talent review, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives across supported business functions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and retention.
- Support change management initiatives associated with organizational growth, restructuring, and business transformation efforts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of learning and development programs.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly within a multi-state environment.
- Oversee and maintain employee data integrity within HR systems and support HR reporting and analytics initiatives.
- Partner with leadership and external stakeholders regarding expansion into new states, including employment compliance, payroll considerations, and registration requirements.
- Monitor required compliance and training programs and ensure organizational adherence to applicable regulations and policies.
HR Projects & Initiatives
- Lead and contribute to strategic HR projects and cross-functional initiatives that enhance organizational capability and employee experience.
- Support the continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, processes, and systems.
- Utilize HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends and inform business decision-making.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant HR Business Partner experience supporting senior leaders and business functions.
- Prior experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or broader life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated experience supporting commercial organizations and partnering with leaders on talent acquisition, workforce planning, and organizational development initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience managing employee relations matters, performance management processes, and organizational change initiatives.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, and HR technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting field-based commercial teams, including sales and marketing organizations.
- Prior experience in a high-growth or rapidly evolving life sciences environment.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Experience utilizing workforce analytics and HR metrics to support business decisions.
