About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to support our growing laboratory automation business across Southeast Asia and Taiwan.
This is a unique hybrid role combining scientific applications, automation solutions, and technical service support. The successful candidate will serve as the regional technical expert for automated liquid handling and robotic laboratory platforms, partnering with distributors, customers, and internal teams to drive successful implementation and adoption of automation solutions.
The ideal candidate combines a strong molecular biology background with hands-on laboratory automation experience, a passion for solving customer challenges, and a willingness to support both software and hardware-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Applications & Customer Support
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales application support for laboratory automation platforms.
- Act as the technical expert for molecular biology, genomics, and automated workflow applications.
- Troubleshoot customer application issues and provide workflow optimization recommendations.
- Design and demonstrate automated solutions for research, diagnostics, and genomics laboratories.
- Support proof-of-concept studies, method development, and workflow validation activities.
- Deliver product demonstrations, seminars, workshops, and customer training programs.
Automation & Software Support
- Configure laboratory automation systems to meet customer workflow requirements.
- Support automated liquid handling workflows for PCR, qPCR, NGS library preparation, sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, and assay automation.
- Assist customers and distributors with protocol setup, workflow development, and software configuration.
- Collaborate with customers to improve productivity, throughput, reproducibility, and laboratory efficiency.
- Develop a strong understanding of automation software, scripting, and workflow programming concepts.
Installation & Technical Service Support
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of automated robotic platforms.
- Work closely with distributors to resolve hardware, software, and application-related issues.
- Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and system performance optimization.
- Monitor service quality across distributor networks and escalate issues as required.
- Open and manage service notifications, product quality issues, and customer escalations.
Distributor & Commercial Support
- Act as the technical liaison between distributors, customers, and internal teams.
- Train and certify distributor application and technical teams.
- Support tender submissions, quotations, and technical documentation.
- Participate in exhibitions, conferences, scientific meetings, and marketing activities.
- Partner with sales teams to identify opportunities and support business growth across the region.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Genomics, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree or PhD is highly preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a customer-facing scientific role.

- Experience supporting complex scientific instrumentation.
- Familiarity with laboratory automation and robotic liquid handling platforms.
- Exposure to workflow programming, protocol development, or automation software is highly desirable.
- Comfortable supporting both software and hardware-related technical issues.
