Senior Trade Compliance Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Specialist in International Trade Compliance to support regional compliance initiatives in Singapore. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory adherence, optimising cross-border operations, and supporting the implementation of a global compliance framework. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution & Risk Management

  • Manage daily cross-border movements and customs clearance.
  • Act as a key contact for customs brokers and trade authorities.
  • Oversee import/export licenses, permits, and manual invoice approvals.
  • Determine HTS, ECCN, SPL, and CoO codes.
  • Monitor duties, VAT, and indirect taxes.
  • Maintain import/export documentation and evaluate broker performance.

Compliance & Regulatory Expertise

  • Monitor and interpret Singapore trade regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with classification, valuation, origin, and export controls.
  • Support audits, regulatory responses, and corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Contribute to cross-regional strategic projects.

Policy, Procedures & Controls

  • Develop and maintain local SOPs aligned with global frameworks.
  • Execute internal controls, audits, and self-assessments.
  • Report compliance developments to the regional compliance lead.

Training & Culture

  • Assist in designing and deploying ITC training programs.
  • Promote compliance awareness across departments.
  • Support the regional ITC network and advocate community.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in global trade compliance, ideally within life sciences, medical devices, or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Singapore import/export regulations and tariff regimes.

Preferred Attributes

  • Ability to translate legal frameworks into operational processes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Fluency in English.
