Job Description: Mechanical Engineer (Freelance - AIMD/ MedTech)
Contract: 9‑month initial contract (extension possible)
Start: ASAP
Location: Clonmel, Ireland - Hybrid, minimum 3 days/week on‑site

Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs) to support ongoing product maintenance, documentation updates, and design verification activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain design test files, test procedures, and verification documentation
- Perform minor design updates and modifications in SolidWorks for continuous product improvements
- Support integration testing and mechanical verification activities
- Generate and revise design inputs, specifications, and controlled documentation
- Contribute to risk management, including updates to Design FMEAs and hazard analyses
- Support routine AIMD maintenance activities (sustaining engineering)
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, QA/RA, and test engineering teams
- Ensure design changes and test documentation comply with AIMD standards (ISO 14708, ISO 13485)
Key Requirements
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for design updates and modifications
- Experience with Minitab or other statistical tools
- Background in Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs)
- Experience with urology implantable devices is a strong advantage
- Strong capability in risk management, documentation, Design FMEA, and traceability
- Comfortable working 3 days on‑site in Clonmel on a continuous maintenance project
