A clinical-stage biotechnology company preparing for its first U.S. commercial launch is seeking a Head of Value, Access & Reimbursement to build and lead its market access function. This is a highly visible, mission‑critical leadership role responsible for shaping the access strategy and infrastructure for a first‑in‑class advanced therapy poised to transform treatment in a large, underserved patient population.
Operating at the intersection of strategy and execution, this leader will design and operationalize the full market access ecosystem, from pricing and payer strategy through patient services and distribution, ensuring the organization is positioned for a successful launch and long‑term growth. This is a rare opportunity to build from the ground up in an emerging biotech environment while directly influencing how innovative therapies reach patients.
The Head of Value, Access & Reimbursement will serve as the senior market access voice across the commercial leadership team, driving value storytelling, payer engagement, and cross‑functional alignment. This individual will play a defining role in how a novel therapy is accessed, reimbursed, and adopted across the U.S. healthcare system.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the end‑to‑end U.S. market access strategy, including payer strategy, pricing, contracting, reimbursement, trade, and patient support
- Establish the market access infrastructure and launch roadmap, including processes, vendors, governance, and KPIs
- Develop pricing strategy and gross‑to‑net framework, including scenario modeling, value thresholds, and contracting approach
- Design and implement channel, distribution, and patient services models to support commercialization and product access
- Guide HEOR/RWE strategy to ensure robust, payer‑relevant evidence generation to support coverage and adoption
- Build and lead a high‑performing market access team while influencing internal and external stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment
Qualifications
- 10-12+ years of experience in Market Access, Managed Markets, Pricing & Contracting, or related access functions within biopharma/biotech
- Proven experience building or significantly scaling market access functions in a pre‑launch or early commercial environment (processes, team, vendors, and strategy)
- Required launch experience within at least one of the following areas: cell & gene therapy, sports medicine, rheumatology, or orthopedics
- Deep expertise across payer strategy, pricing, contracting, reimbursement pathways, and patient access models
- Track record of developing and executing access infrastructure from the ground up, including channel strategy, distribution, and patient services
- Experience in high‑complexity, specialty, or advanced therapeutic products strongly preferred, with a builder mindset suited to an emerging biotech environment
