Location: Atlanta, GA/ Hybrid

Our client is a growing diagnostics and precision medicine company focused on advancing genetic testing and insights. As the organization continues to expand its clinical and commercial footprint, we are seeking a Director of Medical Affairs to establish and lead the Medical Affairs function.

This is a foundational leadership role, responsible for building Medical Affairs strategy, infrastructure, and external engagement from the ground up. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of scientific expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution to shape how Otogenetics engages with clinicians, researchers, and key stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Function Build & Strategy

  • Establish and lead the Medical Affairs function, including defining vision, structure, and operating model
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Medical Affairs strategy aligned with corporate and commercial objectives
  • Build foundational processes (medical review, insights gathering, scientific communications, field engagement)
  • Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and Marketing to ensure scientific alignment

Scientific Leadership & Communication

  • Serve as the internal and external scientific expert on the company's diagnostic offerings and pipeline
  • Lead development of scientific materials (slide decks, publications, abstracts, FAQs, training resources)
  • Oversee medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance
  • Translate complex genetic and diagnostic data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders

KOL Engagement & External Strategy

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in genetics, audiology, and related specialties
  • Design and execute advisory boards, medical education programs, and scientific exchange initiatives
  • Represent Otogenetics at scientific congresses, conferences, and external meetings
  • Gather and synthesize field insights to inform clinical development, product strategy, and messaging

Evidence Generation & Publications

  • Develop and execute an evidence generation strategy supporting clinical utility and value of testing solutions
  • Support clinical study design and investigator-initiated research
  • Lead publication planning and execution (manuscripts, posters, presentations)

Field Medical (Future Build)

  • Assess need for and build a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team over time
  • Define MSL strategy, coverage model, and performance metrics
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to future Medical Affairs hires
