Freelance Simulation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Simulation Specialist to join our partners automation engineering team. This cross-functional role blends mechanical engineering, test automation, and production planning to support the design, optimisation, and validation of advanced manufacturing systems for medical devices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Factory Layout & Material Flow Design

    • Develop and visualise new factory layouts with optimised material flow concepts.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align layout designs with production goals and regulatory requirements.
  • 3D Simulation & Modeling

    • Build and maintain detailed 3D simulations of manufacturing environments
    • Simulate work flows, machine operations, and human interactions to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Process Optimisation

    • Analyse machine and worker utilisation to develop and implement effective work strategies.
    • Conduct scenario analysis to compare alternative layouts and flow strategies for cost and efficiency.
  • Cost Planning & Efficiency Analysis

    • Support cost estimation and planning for new production setups.
    • Evaluate ROI and operational impact of proposed changes using simulation data.
  • Fine Planning & Execution Support

    • Translate simulation insights into actionable production plans.
    • Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Customer Engagement & Commercial Support

    • Prepare and present proposals to customers based on simulation outcomes.
    • Participate in offer preparation, handling, and negotiation processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in factory simulation, mechanical/process engineering, or production planning in a regulated industry (preferably MedTech or Pharma).
  • Proficiency in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation or similar tools (e.g., FlexSim, AnyLogic).
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, material flow, and process optimization.
  • Experience with CAD tools, automation systems, and cost modeling.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in medical device manufacturing, GMP, or ISO 13485 environments.
  • Familiarity with digital twin concepts and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles or technical sales support.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
