About the Opportunity A global life sciences organisation is establishing a brand‑new UK entity, and we are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead, shape, and scale this business from inception. This is a rare opportunity to build a full operating unit in one of the world's most dynamic life science markets, with the autonomy to define strategy, structure, culture, and long‑term growth.
The Role The Managing Director will take full responsibility for launching and expanding the UK business, including strategic planning, operational build‑out, and commercial execution. You will lead cross‑functional teams, establish core processes, and ensure the organisation is positioned for sustainable success.
Key responsibilities include:
- P&L Ownership: Full accountability for financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term value creation.
- Business Build & Scale: Establish the UK entity from scratch, including legal, operational, and organisational setup.
- Leadership & People: Build and lead a high‑performing team across Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Operations.
- Commercial Strategy: Develop and execute go‑to‑market plans, identify growth opportunities, and build strategic partnerships across the UK life sciences ecosystem.
- Operational Excellence: Implement robust processes across supply chain, quality, compliance, and customer delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the senior UK representative, collaborating closely with global leadership and external partners.
- Culture & Vision: Create a purpose‑driven, innovative, and agile environment aligned with the company's global mission.
About You We're looking for a visionary leader with the entrepreneurial drive to build something new and the operational discipline to scale it.
You will bring:
- A proven track record of P&L leadership within life sciences, biotech, pharma, diagnostics, or a related sector.
- Experience building or scaling a business unit, start‑up, or new market entry.
- Strong leadership across Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Commercial functions.
- Demonstrated success in team building, organisational design, and change leadership.
- Deep understanding of the UK life sciences landscape, regulatory environment, and commercial dynamics.
- A strategic mindset paired with hands‑on execution capability.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship‑building skills.
