QC Chemist
Job Title: QC Chemist
Location: Bristol County, MA (CAN PROVIDE RELOCATION)
Position Summary:
The QC Chemist is responsible for performing both routine and advanced analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products in a GMP-regulated environment. This role requires a strong understanding of analytical instrumentation, regulatory compliance, and data integrity. The Chemist may also lead investigations, support method validation, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical and physical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, UV-Vis, FTIR, ICP, and particle size analysis.
- Conduct calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Communicate with vendors for equipment installation, qualification, and maintenance.
- Execute routine and critical testing in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
- Operate specialized equipment and apply advanced analytical techniques as needed.
- Lead or support laboratory investigations, including OOS and OOT results.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, data integrity, and good documentation practices (GDP).
- Review and interpret analytical data and prepare technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and logbooks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Section Head.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related physical science.
- 3-5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical QC laboratory under GMP conditions.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written) for scientific communication.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and scientific software (e.g., Empower, LIMS).
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and work independently or in teams.
