Process Molding Engineer
Process/Molding Engineer (Medical Device) - Intermediate Level (Engineer II)
Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate-Level Process/Molding Engineer (Engineer II) to support molding operations within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of hands‑on molding experience-either plastics or metals-who can contribute to process optimisation, troubleshooting, equipment validation, and production support. This is not a graduate or senior engineering position, but suited for someone ready to take the next step in their technical development.
Key Responsibilities
Molding & Process Engineering
- Support day‑to‑day molding operations for medical device components (plastics or metals).
- Perform process troubleshooting to resolve issues related to cycle times, part quality, scrap, and equipment performance.
- Assist with developing and optimising molding parameters to improve yield, efficiency, and product consistency.
- Participate in root‑cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for process‑related issues.
Equipment & Validation
- Execute equipment qualifications and validations, including IQ/OQ/PQ for molding tools, machines, and ancillary systems.
- Document and maintain validation protocols and reports in accordance with regulatory and quality system requirements.
Production & Capacity Support
- Collaborate with operations and planning teams to support production schedules and capacity planning.
- Monitor equipment performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions to improve throughput.
- Track scrap, downtime, and other performance metrics, implementing engineering actions to reduce losses.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D to ensure molded components meet specification and compliance requirements.
- Support transfer of new products or molds into production, including running trials and supporting design-for-manufacture (DFM) activities.
