Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development:

  • Develop and maintain relationships to bring in new clients across industries such as life sciences, financial services, big tech, and public affairs.
  • Actively create opportunities through a network of industry contacts, not just respond to RFPs.
  • Take ownership of the pitch and close process, leveraging the firm's strong reputation and capabilities.

2. Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead client engagements in messaging, narrative, and public affairs work.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and senior counselor to clients, bringing credible expertise and leadership.

3. Research and Insight Development:

  • Confidently interpret research (e.g., cross-tabs and data insights) to inform actionable strategies.
  • Guide teams in integrating research findings into compelling language strategies.

4. Internal Leadership:

  • Participate in running the firm by contributing to processes such as interviewing, onboarding, and establishing best practices.

What We're Looking For
1. Strategic Expertise:

  • A background in messaging, market research, marketing, narrative, or public affairs work.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams or projects, ideally within a company, agency, or independent consulting environment.

2. Research Savvy:

  • Strong understanding of research methodologies and their application to strategy.
  • Ability to turn data into actionable insights that drive decision-making.

3. Business Development Acumen:

  • Experience sourcing leads, cultivating relationships, and successfully closing deals.
  • Evidence of creating new business opportunities from scratch, not just maintaining or pitching existing relationships.
  • A strong professional network or expertise that sets the candidate apart in a competitive marketplace.

4. Leadership within the Firm:

  • A unique perspective or expertise that adds significant value to the team.
  • A willingness to take on responsibilities beyond client work, contributing to the overall growth and culture of the company.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Tangible contributions to growing the firm's client base
  • A demonstrated ability to close business opportunities and deliver on promises.
  • A respected leader within the team who uplifts colleagues with their expertise and presence.
