Title: Design Engineer

Location: Lincolnshire, IL

We're partnered with a long‑established, privately held life‑science manufacturer to hire a Bioprocessing Engineering Support Specialist. This role supports a growing bioprocessing solutions team by maintaining precise CAD drawings and revision histories, assisting with the design and documentation of custom single‑use tubing assemblies, and coordinating with sales, suppliers, and customers to troubleshoot issues and support accurate quoting. With multiple ISO 9001:2015‑certified cleanrooms and direct visibility to senior engineering and executive leadership, this is a high‑impact opportunity for a detail‑oriented engineer to deepen expertise in single‑use bioprocessing within a stable, growth‑minded organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update technical drawings while maintaining accurate revision control and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, sales teams, and customers to improve production yields, equipment reliability, and overall bioprocess performance.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues related to tubing assemblies used in pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing.
  • Assist with preparing accurate and timely quotes for custom single‑use assemblies.
  • Identify and document correct supplier part numbers and ensure their accuracy within drawings and internal systems.
  • Support continuous improvement across the tubing assembly workflow, including purchasing, quoting, and supplier component management.
  • Work closely with and learn from a senior product design engineer with decades of industry experience and multiple patented products.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in bioprocessing, single‑use systems, or assembly‑based manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related technical field (strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with CAD drawing software is required; SolidWorks experience is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with sterile manufacturing environments or ISO 9001:2015‑certified organizations is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
