Senior Research Associate (IPSC)

A life sciences organization is seeking a hands-on, detail‑oriented junior scientist to support routine cell culture and foundational preclinical research. This position is well‑suited for someone early in their career who follows protocols carefully, learns quickly from more senior team members, and enjoys contributing to daily laboratory operations. Prior experience with sterile cell culture technique is essential. Experience with iPSC or ES cell work is beneficial but not required. This role requires availability on a Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell Culture: Maintain and culture stem‑cell-based lines following established protocols, including consistent use of sterile technique and attention to culture quality.
  • Quality Control Support: Assist with routine cell line quality control activities, such as sterility testing, mycoplasma testing, and preparing samples for sequencing (e.g., DNA extraction and coordination with external partners).
  • Differentiation Work: Perform directed differentiation procedures, including routine passaging, monitoring culture health, and maintaining clear documentation.
  • Process & Documentation Improvements: Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and quality control workflows.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare media, small molecules, and other key reagents required for cell culture and related workflows.

Required Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related scientific field
  • 6+ months of sterile cell culture experience in an academic or industry setting
  • Proven ability to follow protocols accurately, maintain clean cultures, and record data with high integrity
  • Basic molecular biology skills (e.g., DNA extraction, PCR)
  • Experience with flow cytometry is a plus
  • Positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and enthusiasm for hands‑on lab work

Why This Role May Appeal:

  • Opportunity to contribute to a core cell culture function that supports key research programs
  • Work within a mission‑driven scientific environment
  • Engage with a team focused on high‑quality lab practices and continuous improvement
