Overview
We are seeking a driven, client-facing AVP / VP, Business Development & Growth Strategy to support and accelerate new business growth within a leading medical communications environment.

This role is ideal for a hands-on seller with ~8+ years of experience, focused on building pipeline, closing new opportunities, and supporting account expansion initiatives. The AVP/VP will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver tailored, high-impact solutions to pharmaceutical and biotech clients.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Identify, prospect, and qualify new business opportunities across pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare clients
  • Manage opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, from initial outreach through close
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted partner throughout the engagement process
  • Support new logo acquisition and identify opportunities for growth within existing accounts

Pipeline & Revenue Management

  • Build and maintain a strong, active pipeline aligned to individual revenue targets
  • Track pipeline health, conversion rates, and deal velocity
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and ensure consistent activity tracking
  • Provide regular updates and reporting on pipeline performance and revenue progress

Go-to-Market & Strategic Support

  • Support execution of go-to-market and business development strategies
  • Contribute to targeted outreach campaigns and account planning initiatives
  • Leverage market insights, competitive intelligence, and industry trends to inform positioning
  • Partner with senior leaders on pitch strategy and proposal development

Operational Excellence

  • Utilize CRM and sales enablement tools to manage pipeline and track activity
  • Follow established sales processes and best practices to ensure consistency
  • Maintain high-quality documentation of opportunities, proposals, and client interactions
  • Support reporting and dashboard tracking across the business development team

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with strategy, creative, digital, and account teams to develop integrated solutions
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align on pursuit strategy and delivery approach
  • Ensure seamless coordination across teams during proposal development and execution

Qualifications

  • ~8+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client services within medical communications, healthcare agencies, or life sciences services
  • Proven ability to support or independently drive new business opportunities through close
  • Experience engaging with pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare clients
  • Strong understanding of agency services and commercial engagement models
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and pipeline management tools
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience selling into pharmaceutical and biotech organisations
  • Exposure to omnichannel engagement strategies and client solutions
  • Background in healthcare communications, marketing services, or agency environments
