Senior C++ Software Developer (Freelance Contract)
Location: Remote (Europe Only)
Contract Length: 12 Months

We are supporting an innovative MedTech company developing advanced robotic technology and are seeking an experienced Senior C++ Software Developer to join a long-term project on a fully remote basis.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on complex, hardware-integrated systems where software performance, reliability, and quality are critical. You'll be developing software used within highly regulated environments, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver next-generation robotic solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software using modern C++
- Develop software for robotic and hardware-integrated systems
- Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions
- Optimize performance, scalability, and maintainability across complex applications
- Work closely with systems, electronics, controls, and product development teams
- Support verification, validation, and testing activities
- Contribute to Agile software development processes
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with modern C++ (C++17/20)
- Experience developing software for robotics, automation, mechatronics, or complex hardware-integrated products
- Strong Qt and Linux development experience
- Experience working on large-scale software systems and complex codebases
- Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, multithreading, and performance optimization
- Experience within a regulated environment such as Medical Devices or Life Sciences
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within distributed engineering teams

- Medical device software development
- Robotic-assisted surgical systems or healthcare robotics
- ROS / ROS2
- Computer vision, imaging systems, or sensor integration
- IEC 62304, FDA, or ISO 14971 exposure
- Real-time systems and motion control
