Buyer (Direct Procurement) | 6-Month Contract

A leading chemicals manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a critical backfill position supporting a major SAP transformation project following a recent acquisition, with an immediate start preferred.

The Opportunity

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of direct materials used within the manufacturing process, supporting operational continuity while key team members are engaged in an SAP implementation project. The role is heavily focused on purchasing chemical raw materials and working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities for direct materials and chemical commodities.
• Raise and manage purchase orders through SAP.
• Maintain supplier relationships and ensure continuity of supply.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
• Support day-to-day purchasing activities across manufacturing operations.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and operations teams to meet business objectives.

Requirements

• 4+ years of purchasing or procurement experience.
• Strong experience in direct procurement.
• SAP experience is essential.
• Background within the chemicals, specialty chemicals, manufacturing, or industrial sectors preferred.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships and procurement processes independently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working in a plant-based manufacturing environment and following site safety procedures.
