Title: Associate Director/Director, In Vitro Pharmacology

Summary:
The client, a Boston-area biotech company, is seeking to add a motivated in vitro pharmacology leader to their growing R&D team. Reporting to the Head of R&D, this leader will join a cross-functional team focused on identifying and evaluating a pipeline of innovative antibody candidates. This individual will be expected to oversee the execution of in vitro data packages that drive these antibody candidates toward clinical development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team to design, develop, and execute cell-based bioassays to evaluate performance of all investigative drugs (biologics) in the companies pipeline
- Develop and characterize assays for new drug targets
- Oversee, perform, and troubleshoot data analysis from in vitro findings
- Manage relationships with academic collaborators and CROs to drive comprehensive capabilities for MoA, target validation and potency studies
- Collaborate with senior leadership on the R&D team and cross-functional leaders to drive targets toward clinical studies
- Assist with budget management and forecasting, and project management
- Prepare technical reports for cross-functional leadership meetings, publications, and IND submissions
- Provide both written and oral communication of study progress and results to cross-functional leadership
Key Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Cellular Biology, Immunology, or other relevant discipline.
- 7 to 10 years of experience working in a biotech or pharma with a focus on in vitro efficacy testing of biologics.
- Candidates are expected to have a high level of expertise working with cell-based assays. Cell system examples include: epithelial cells, immune cells, fibroblasts, etc.
- Demonstrated management experience including the supervision of scientific staff and direction of experiments in a drug discovery environment.
- Concise communication skills and excellent presentation skills.
