Principal Scientist (Protein Science)
We are currently partnering with an innovative life‑science company looking for a senior, hands‑on protein science role based in Zurich, Switzerland. This is a great opportunity to shape protein science activities in a fast‑growing, technology‑driven biotech environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Taking a leading role in experimental protein science work that underpins early research and development efforts
- Shaping practical approaches for producing and assessing protein material in support of multiple ongoing projects
- Acting as a technical reference point for internal teams and external collaborators, helping to translate scientific goals into executable laboratory work
- Identifying and addressing common issues that arise during protein generation and handling in an applied research setting
- Delivering fit‑for‑purpose protein material for downstream experimental use and collaborative programs
- Using analytical results to inform decision‑making, refinement of constructs, and next experimental steps
- Owning protein‑related deliverables and timelines within a broader project landscape
An ideal candidate would have:
- A PhD or equivalent experience in protein science, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
- Several years of industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical R&D environment - industry experience is a must
- Strong hands‑on experience with protein expression, purification, and characterisation
- Broad familiarity with common biochemical and biophysical analytical techniques
- Experience working in fast‑moving, resource‑conscious research settings
- The ability to balance hands‑on execution with scientific leadership
- A structured, pragmatic working style and a collaborative, solution‑oriented mindset
- Clear communication skills and confidence interacting across disciplines
