Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking skilled Manufacturing Engineers to support our clients orthopedic instrumentation production. In this role, you will serve as the key bridge between R&D and Manufacturing, ensuring successful design transfers, process stability, and efficient production execution. You will work closely with customers, engineering teams, and production staff, requiring strong communication skills and proficiency in German.

Design Transfer & Process Engineering

  • Lead design transfer activities from R&D to Manufacturing for orthopedic surgical tools.
  • Translate technical requirements into manufacturable processes and clear shop-floor documentation.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate machining processes for milling and drilling operations.

Customer & Internal Collaboration

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customer requests and engineering changes.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support customer audits and technical discussions when needed.

Manufacturing Optimization

  • Analyze production data to drive efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and process capability increases.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, production routings, and documentation.

Systems & Tools

  • Utilize Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Work with SAP (or other ERP systems) for production planning, BOM/routing maintenance, and change management.
  • Contribute to digital manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in milling and drilling (preferably precision machining for medical devices).
  • Experience with design transfer, New Product Introduction (NPI), or process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Proficiency in Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, process documentation).
  • Experience with SAP or another major ERP system (SAP is a major plus).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with production teams.
  • Fluent German (daily shop-floor interaction required) and good English skills.
