We are supporting a consultancy delivering a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing project near Mainz and are seeking a freelance Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer for full-time, onsite execution support.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on, site-based E&I engineering role focused on installation oversight, technical compliance and commissioning readiness within a GMP-regulated environment. The role sits between design, construction and commissioning teams, ensuring E&I systems are correctly installed, documented and ready for qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite E&I engineering support across installation, pre‑commissioning and commissioning phases
- Conduct site walkdowns of electrical and instrumentation installations
- Perform installation checks against drawings, specifications and GMP requirements
- Review, mark up and verify as-built documentation and redlines
- Support loop checks, power-up activities and commissioning readiness
- Interface closely with E&I contractors, automation teams, EPCM partners and end client
- Resolve technical queries and support deviation / punch list close‑out
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety and quality standards
Must-Have Requirements
- Demonstrable E&I engineering experience in pharmaceuticals
- Strong site-based delivery background (not design-only)
- Comfortable with walkdowns, installation checks, inspections, and documentation reviews
- Solid knowledge of GMP environments and regulated projects
- Experience supporting installation through commissioning
- Fluent English (German beneficial but not essential)
- Able to work full-time onsite near Mainz
