Head / Director of Lab Operations
This opportunity is with a rapidly growing, highly innovative organization establishing its first U.S. presence, focused on advancing early cancer detection, prevention, and molecular-level disease management. The company operates at the intersection of clinical biology, molecular diagnostics, and precision medicine, with a mission to identify and act on disease at its earliest biological signals-well before clinical symptoms emerge.
The organization has an established global presence across Europe and Asia and is now building out its U.S. footprint. This role will play a critical part in launching and scaling lab operations in a very lean, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead U.S. laboratory operations from the ground up, including infrastructure, workflows, and team development
- Oversee day-to-day lab execution across clinical, molecular, and translational diagnostic activities
- Establish and optimize processes supporting high-sensitivity testing platforms, including genomics, cfDNA, and multi-omics workflows
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory/quality standards as applicable
- Partner cross-functionally with teams across molecular biology, clinical research, and data/AI functions to enable early detection and longitudinal monitoring programs
- Implement scalable systems to support precision diagnostics and high-throughput sample processing
- Lead vendor selection, equipment buildout, and operational readiness for a growing U.S. presence
- Drive continuous improvement across efficiency, data quality, and turnaround times
Ideal Background
- Strong experience in laboratory operations leadership, ideally within molecular diagnostics, genomics, or translational research environments
- Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS), cfDNA workflows, and multi-omics platforms is highly preferred
- Ability to operate and learn effectively in a lean, fast-paced environment with high ownership
- Experience working cross-functionally with scientific, clinical, and technical teams
