The Opportunity
We are currently partnering with a leading pharmaceutical organisation to recruit a Buyer on a 9-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and contribute to critical supply chain operations supporting life-saving products.
You will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services, while maintaining compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, RFQs, negotiation, and purchase order placement
- Procure raw materials, APIs, packaging, and indirect goods/services in line with business needs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers to ensure quality and continuity of supply
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Regulatory, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with GMP/GxP requirements
- Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements where needed
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks
- Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP systems
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist, ideally within pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries
- Strong understanding of GMP/GxP environments
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Desirable
- Experience sourcing APIs, excipients, or packaging materials
- CIPS qualification (or working towards)
- Experience working with global suppliers
