Research Associate - Downstream Process Development (f/m/d)

Location: Germany (on-site)

About the role

We are supporting a biopharmaceutical organization focused on the development of innovative therapeutic products and delivery technologies. They are seeking a hands-on Downstream Process Specialist to support purification activities and process development within a dynamic R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute downstream purification processes for pre-clinical materials
  • Perform chromatography, tangential flow filtration (TFF), and filtration operations
  • Prepare buffers, consumables, and equipment for batch execution
  • Support process development through experiments, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Accurately document batch records, experiments, and technical observations
  • Contribute to lab organization, equipment readiness, and inventory management
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment
  • Support SOP development and ensure good documentation practices

Your profile

  • BSc with 5+ years or MSc with 2+ years of experience in biotech or bioprocessing
  • Hands-on experience in downstream processing (chromatography, TFF, filtration)
  • Familiarity with systems such as ÄKTA / UNICORN or similar
  • Experience working on biologic or complex therapeutic products is a strong advantage
  • Organized, proactive, and confident troubleshooting in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)
