Head of R&D
We are currently partnering with a fast‑growing and highly innovative medical technology company based in Switzerland. The organisation operates in a regulated MedTech environment and develops advanced implant‑related products that are commercialised internationally. They are now looking for a Head of R&D to lead and further develop their innovation and product development function.
You will be responsible for:
- Defining and executing the R&D strategy, aligning innovation pipelines with overall business objectives and market needs.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a multidisciplinary R&D team, fostering a high‑performance and collaborative culture.
- Overseeing the full product development lifecycle from concept through industrialisation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Acting as a senior technical and strategic interface across cross‑functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and external partners.
- Ensuring full compliance with Design Control processes and regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO 13485, MDR) across all development activities.
- Driving innovation, technology roadmap development, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain competitive advantage.
- Overseeing risk management, verification & validation strategies, and technical documentation within a regulated environment.
- Supporting executive decision‑making through technical insight, resource planning, and portfolio prioritisation.
An ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
- A degree in engineering, materials science, medical technology, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- Extensive experience in R&D leadership roles within a regulated industry (MedTech essential; implant experience strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of leading product development organisations and delivering complex programs successfully.
- Strong understanding of Design Control, regulatory frameworks, and product lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset combined with a hands‑on, pragmatic approach when needed.
- Strong communication skills in English and German (written and spoken).
