Business Development Manager
A U.S. based CRO is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join their team who will be reporting directly into the Head of USA Business Development. This role will play a pivotal part in expanding their presence in the U.S. market, with responsibilities that include identifying and qualifying leads, managing the sales pipeline, and securing new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will foster long-term client relationships and align the organization's capabilities with customer needs, all while upholding the company's values and collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new client acquisition and manage existing accounts by aligning the sales process with the customer's buying journey - from initial contact through to closing.
- Proactively network within target industries to identify and pursue opportunities that match the organization's service offerings.
- Manage the full sales pipeline efficiently to meet or exceed business development goals.
- Represent the company at key industry conferences and trade shows to enhance visibility and generate leads.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute sales strategies informed by market research and competitive analysis.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, and coordinate pre-engagement activities such as CDAs/NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and meeting logistics.
- Lead contract negotiations and finalize agreements with prospective clients.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and client data using the company's CRM system.
- Travel up to 50% as needed, with flexibility to accommodate client schedules.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in a CRO environment is highly preferred; particularly in bioanalysis, biomarkers, or translational sciences (e.g., clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics).
- Experience in biologics CMC analytical services is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects from initiation to completion, with a focus on meeting forecast timelines.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale partnership initiatives within the U.S. market.
- Strong skills in consultative selling, value creation, negotiation, and closing deals.
