Metrology Quality Engineer (12-Month Contract)

📍 France | 🏥 Medical Device Manufacturing

We are supporting a leading medical device manufacturer in their search for an experienced Metrology Quality Engineer to join their site on an initial 12-month contract.

This is a high-impact role focused on establishing and developing an on-site Metrology and Calibration Laboratory, reducing reliance on external providers and improving measurement system capability across manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the establishment of an internal Metrology and Calibration function
  • Develop calibration processes, procedures and schedules for production and test equipment
  • Drive Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities, including Gauge R&R studies
  • Support qualification and validation of measurement equipment
  • Manage calibration and maintenance programmes to ensure compliance and equipment reliability
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering teams
  • Support investigations, CAPAs and non-conformance activities related to measurement systems
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and help build a sustainable long-term metrology strategy for the site

Requirements

  • Proven experience within a medical device, IVD or highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on metrology and calibration experience
  • Experience conducting MSA and Gauge R&R studies
  • Knowledge of inspection equipment, measurement systems and calibration programmes
  • Understanding of ISO 13485 and regulated quality systems
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and operational quality activities
  • Ability to work independently and drive site-wide improvements

Preferred

  • Previous experience setting up or expanding an internal metrology/calibration laboratory
  • CMM experience
  • Statistical analysis tools such as Minitab
  • Experience working directly with production and manufacturing teams
