Our client is a globally backed technology company developing next-generation computational platforms to accelerate scientific innovation. Operating at the convergence of advanced computing, data science, and physical sciences, they partner with leading organizations to tackle complex challenges in areas such as resource optimisation, next-generation manufacturing, and sustainability-driven innovation.
With an internationally distributed team, the business is building out its APAC presence and is seeking a senior technical leader to establish and scale its applied science function in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a regional applied science and technical delivery team
- Serve as the primary technical interface for external collaborations and strategic projects
- Translate high-level objectives into structured technical programmes, deliverables, and execution plans
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of cross-functional scientific projects, including solution design and implementation
- Partner closely with global research, engineering, and platform teams to ensure alignment with core capabilities
- Build trusted relationships with external partners across industry and research environments
- Drive improvements in project execution, technical operations, and collaboration workflows
- Provide leadership in hiring, mentoring, and shaping a high-impact technical team
Key Requirements:
- Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in a physical science or engineering discipline (e.g. materials, chemistry, chemical engineering, computational science)
- Strong foundation in modelling, simulation, or data-driven scientific approaches
- Proven experience leading:
- Technical teams
- Complex, externally facing projects
- Ability to operate across both technical depth and business context
- Demonstrated experience structuring ambiguous problems into clear execution plans
- Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities
- Comfortable working in a high-autonomy, fast-evolving environment
Bonus Requirements:
- Exposure to advanced analytics, machine learning, or scientific computing platforms
- Familiarity with automated experimental workflows or data-driven R&D environments
- Experience in high-growth or early-stage technology organizations
- Regional exposure across Asia-Pacific collaborations
- Additional language capabilities (e.g. Mandarin)
