Automation Engineer - Lyon
A technician or engineer is required to support an automation project within the pharmaceutical industry. The mission focuses on the revamping of an electrical/automation cabinet and its associated PLC, including full program redevelopment and on‑site commissioning. The position is hands‑on, development‑focused, and requires autonomy from coding through to start‑up.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and structure PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal as part of a cabinet and hardware revamp.
- Analyse existing PLC logic and hardware configuration to prepare for migration or redevelopment.
- Collaborate with electrical teams on cabinet modifications, wiring updates, and I/O allocation.
- Perform internal testing and simulation during the development phase at the Lyon office.
- Execute commissioning activities on site at the end of September, including I/O checks, debugging, and functional testing.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues during start‑up and stabilisation.
- Prepare or contribute to technical documentation, test plans, and commissioning reports.
- Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and QA/validation teams to ensure safe and compliant operation.
Required Profile
- Approximately 10 years of experience in industrial automation, with strong exposure to PLC development and commissioning.
- Proven expertise in Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal (development, hardware configuration, troubleshooting).
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, cabinet architecture, and I/O structures.
- Experience taking ownership of code from development through to commissioning (no pilot/operator profile).
- Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries is an advantage.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously within a project team.
