Job Title: Freelance Electrical Engineer - Medical Device Industry (12-Month Contract)
Location: Germany (On-site or Hybrid, depending on project needs)
Contract Type: Freelance, Full-Time
Duration: 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP or negotiable

Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Electrical Engineer to support the development of advanced medical devices. This 12-month contract offers the opportunity to contribute to life-saving technologies within a regulated, innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of analog and digital circuitry for medical devices in compliance with IEC 60601 and related standards.
  • Schematic capture, PCB layout supervision, and component selection with a focus on reliability and manufacturability.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including mechanical, systems, and quality engineering to ensure robust product integration.
  • Execution of design verification and validation activities, including test planning, documentation, and reporting.
  • Support for technical documentation required for regulatory submissions (CE, FDA).
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical issues during development and testing phases.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years in the medical device sector.
  • Strong understanding of medical device development processes and regulatory standards (IEC 60601, ISO 13485).
  • Proficiency in tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar for schematic and layout design.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and EMC compliance.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are advantageous but not essential.

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with power supply design, signal conditioning, and sensor integration.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.
  • Prior freelance or consultancy experience in regulated industries.
