The Opportunity
A global life sciences organisation is looking for a senior scientific leader to drive innovation across tissue diagnostics. This is a high-impact role focused on advancing technologies such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridisation (FISH).
The Role
You will lead the scientific direction for tissue‑based assay development, working closely with R&D, clinical, and commercial teams. This role combines strategy, leadership, and hands-on scientific oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the scientific direction for IHC, FISH, and related technologies
- Oversee assay development from early research through to validation
- Lead and mentor scientific teams across multiple disciplines
- Support regulatory strategy and ensure high scientific standards
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Act as a senior scientific voice within the organisation
Requirements
- PhD, MD, or similar in a life sciences field
- Strong experience with IHC and/or FISH
- Background in diagnostics, biotech, or advanced research
- Leadership experience in a senior scientific role
- Understanding of regulated environments (e.g. IVDR, FDA)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Additional Information
- Full-time role based in the UK
- Around 20% international travel
