Freelance Data Engineer - Medical Devices (Ireland)

A leading Medical Devices organisation is expanding its digital, data and analytics capability to support next‑generation connected devices, diagnostics, and internal manufacturing intelligence platforms. We are seeking a Data Engineer who can deliver end‑to‑end solutions, from data modelling to deployment while partnering directly with business leaders, R&D, Quality, and Operations teams.

This is a high‑impact role where you will own solution delivery, automate manual processes, and significantly influence data strategy in a rapidly evolving MedTech environment.

In this role, you will have full ownership across the data engineering lifecycle, including:

End‑to‑End Solution Design & Delivery

  • Architect, design, and build robust data solutions across cloud and on‑prem environments
  • Lead data ingestion, modelling, transformation, validation, and deployment activities
  • Deliver production‑ready solutions that integrate with device, manufacturing, quality, and analytics systems
  • Report directly to Data & Digital leadership and present progress, risks, and insights

Automation & Optimisation

  • Automate manual workflows within reporting, analytics, and operational systems
  • Develop reusable templates, scripts, and pipelines to improve reliability and speed of delivery

Analytics, Reporting & Visualisation

  • Build dashboards and analytical models to support R&D, clinical, quality, and manufacturing teams
  • Support the creation of paginated, operational and regulatory‑grade reports
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical deliverables

Validation, Documentation & User Training

  • Ensure all deliverables meet documentation, audit, and validation requirements (GxP where applicable)
  • Conduct end‑user training sessions, handover workshops, and create supporting materials
  • Maintain high‑quality documentation aligned with MedTech standards

Technical skills required:

  • Snowflake - data warehousing, performance optimisation, security best practice
  • Python - automation, data processing, scripting, API integration
  • SQL Server - advanced SQL, stored procedures, schema design
  • DBT - transformation pipelines, model orchestration, testing
  • Power BI - dashboards, datasets, modelling
  • Paginated Reports (SSRS) - operational, regulatory and high‑precision reporting
  • Power Query / PowerApps - workflow automation and business applications
  • Excel VBA - legacy automation, macros, report logic

Must have:

  • Experience in MedTech, Pharma, Healthcare, or other regulated environments
