A rapidly growing Bay Area biotechnology company is seeking a Human Resources Manager to help scale its People function during an exciting phase of organizational growth and expansion.
This is a highly visible role supporting a mission-driven company at the forefront of scientific innovation. The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with leadership to drive People Operations, Employee Relations, Employee Experience, Compliance, Payroll, Benefits, Immigration, and Culture initiatives while helping build the infrastructure needed to support continued growth.
The position offers significant cross-functional exposure, executive partnership, and the opportunity to shape the employee experience within a fast-paced, high-growth biotech environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day HR operations across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS management, and employee data integrity
  • Partner with leaders on employee relations matters, performance management, investigations, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Drive compliance with federal, state, and California employment laws and ensure HR policies remain current and scalable
  • Oversee benefits administration, leave management, and employee support programs
  • Manage multi-state payroll processes in partnership with Finance and external vendors
  • Support immigration programs, including visa sponsorship and global mobility processes
  • Develop and enhance employee engagement, recognition, and culture-building initiatives
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to support organizational growth and workforce planning
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and overall employee experience
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist, HR Operations, People Operations, or Human Resources Management experience
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance practices
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and leave management
  • Hands-on payroll experience, including multi-state payroll administration
  • Experience supporting immigration programs and globally distributed employees is a plus
  • Background within biotech, life sciences, healthcare, or other high-growth environments preferred
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000
  • Annual Bonus
  • Equity
