Manufacturing Maintenance Technician
Role Overview
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, fault‑finding, and repairing manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and efficiency. The role has a strong electrical and equipment maintenance focus and supports production teams by responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on a range of manufacturing and process equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults including motors, sensors, control panels, and basic PLC fault-finding
- Maintain mechanical systems such as conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems
- Respond promptly to production breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Complete planned maintenance schedules in line with site requirements
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety regulations
- Accurately record maintenance activities using CMMS or maintenance logs
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with production, engineering, and external contractors as required
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing maintenance technician or similar role
- Electrical fault‑finding experience (industrial or manufacturing environment)
- Experience maintaining production or automated equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and basic mechanical drawings
- Strong problem‑solving and fault‑diagnosis skills
- Comfortable working rotating shifts
Desirable
- Basic PLC fault finding (Siemens / Allen Bradley or equivalent)
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience working with conveyors, packaging machinery, or process equipment
Qualifications
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (preferred)
- Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition are desirable but not essential
