Manufacturing Engineering Consultant - Pharmaceutical Inhaler Devices (W2)

Engagement Type: W2 Employee | Part‑Time / Ad Hoc Consulting

Location: U.S.‑based | Remote with occasional travel

Industry: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing | Inhalation Drug Delivery

Role Focus

Seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer / Technical Consultant with direct pharmaceutical inhaler manufacturing experience to support the industrialisation and scale‑up of a micro‑dose inhaler device.

Mandatory: Candidates must have previously worked on commercial inhaler products (e.g., MDI, DPI, soft‑mist, or equivalent). This is non‑negotiable.

Key Manufacturing Responsibilities

  • Advise on inhaler manufacturing processes, including assembly, filling, sealing, and dose‑control mechanisms
  • Recommend manufacturing equipment, tooling, and automation approaches (prototype → pilot → commercial scale)
  • Support process development and scale‑up, including throughput, yields, and repeatability
  • Provide guidance on materials and component sourcing (plastics, elastomers, metals, coatings, packaging)
  • Assess material compatibility with liquid formulations from a manufacturing perspective
  • Identify manufacturing risks and propose robust, repeatable production solutions
  • Support manufacturability, reliability, and consistency aligned with pharmaceutical‑grade standards

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrialisation Engineer, or Manufacturing Consultant
  • Hands‑on background in pharmaceutical inhaler manufacturing
  • Experience with process design, scale‑up, or tech transfer of inhalation devices
  • Familiarity with dose accuracy, device tolerances, and assembly constraints
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing controls, repeatability, and quality‑driven design
  • Ability to operate in an advisory role within a regulated manufacturing environment

Engagement Model

  • W2 employment required (no 1099 contractors)
  • Part‑time, as‑needed consulting
