EPM Scientific are currently partnered with an early-stage clinical biotech which is advancing a programme in haemato-oncology. They are urgently seeking a Chief Medical Officer, reporting to the CEO, to provide hands-on medical leadership and drive their clinical development efforts forward. See a summary of the role below:

Role Overview:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Location: Fully Remote, USA (consideration for European based candidates)
  • Contract Type: Freelance / Consultant - 0.4-0.6 FTE, Indefinite
  • Language: English
  • Project: Haemato-Oncology (AML)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall medical oversight and strategic direction for the company's clinical programme in AML.
  • Support and oversee protocol development for the upcoming clinical trial, ensuring scientific rigour and regulatory alignment.
  • Act as the primary medical point of contact for Principal Investigators, fostering strong relationships and facilitating site-level engagement.
  • Oversee safety monitoring activities, including review of adverse events and safety data throughout the trial lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and cross-functional teams to drive clinical milestones forward in a hands-on capacity.
  • Contribute to interactions with regulatory authorities and support the preparation of key clinical and regulatory documents.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) board certification or equivalent training in haematology, oncology, or haemato-oncology not required but beneficial.
  • Demonstrated clinical development experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, ideally in early-phase settings.
  • Direct experience with AML or haemato-oncology clinical trials is essential, including familiarity with current treatment landscapes and trial design.
  • Track record of engaging with Principal Investigators and the broader clinical community in this therapeutic area.
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, hands-on environment where flexibility and initiative are critical.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
