Key Account Manager, Midwest territory

Overview:
The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving awareness and adoption of emergency medicine products across a defined territory, with a focus on recently launched therapies. This role involves strategic engagement with hospital stakeholders to ensure product access, formulary inclusion, and clinical integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve or exceed territory sales goals by executing strategic plans aligned with broader commercial objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key hospital personnel including surgeons, pharmacists, and emergency medicine staff.
  • Develop account-specific business plans informed by local market dynamics and decision-making structures.
  • Drive formulary access and ensure product integration into EMR systems, protocols, and standing orders.
  • Deliver compliant, tailored product presentations and in-services to clinical staff.
  • Organize and execute territory-specific programs to enhance product visibility and uptake.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure timely reporting.
  • Travel extensively within the territory (up to 80% field time), including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Comply with hospital credentialing requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hospital-based pharmaceutical sales or account management, with experience in IV products.
  • Proven success engaging with pharmacists, emergency medicine professionals, and surgeons.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze market drivers and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Experience navigating hospital systems including P&T committees, EMR/CPOE platforms, and protocol development.
  • Skilled in consultative selling, strategic questioning, and value-based positioning.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems creatively and systematically.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by car or plane.
