Role Summary
As an Account Director, you will own day-to-day client relationships and program delivery across a portfolio of biopharma brands. You'll translate strategy into executable scopes, orchestrate cross-functional internal teams, and ensure high-quality, compliant outputs across promotional medical education and medical affairs workstreams. Success looks like on-time/on-budget delivery, delighted clients, measurable outcomes, and healthy account growth.
What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities)
Client Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as the primary point of contact for brand and medical clients; lead weekly status, quarterly business reviews, and executive-ready updates.
- Distill scientific/brand strategy into clear briefs, scopes, timelines, and success metrics for cross-functional teams (medical, creative, editorial, project management, digital).
- Identify needs, connect solutions, and drive organic growth, change orders, and multi-year program roadmaps.
Program & Financial Ownership
- Build and manage SOWs, budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans; track margin, utilization, and forecast accuracy.
- Maintain rigorous scope/change/risk controls; escalate and resolve delivery issues proactively.
- Coordinate vendors (KOLs, writers, designers, platforms, production) and negotiate rates when needed.
Compliance & Review
- Navigate MLR/PRC processes and platform workflows (e.g., Veeva PromoMats/Vault, Zinc, or equivalent).
- Ensure adherence to agency SOPs and client governance; uphold accuracy, balance, and fair scientific representation across all materials.
Deliverables You'll Lead (Representative Work)
Promotional Medical Education (peer-to-peer & HCP promotion)
- Speaker program ecosystems (core decks, iPDFs, speaker toolkits, sign-in/compliance assets)
- MOA/MOD content, visual aids, leave-behinds, field training modules
- Omnichannel HCP campaigns (email, web, social, banners) and performance dashboards
- Congress promotional assets: booth screens, scientific theater materials, symposia slide decks, agendas, signage
Medical Affairs
- Advisory boards: design, recruitment/ops, briefing books, discussion guides, insights synthesis
- Congress medical deliverables: medical booth assets, data displays, congress daily recaps, insight mining
- Scientific platforms/narratives, lexicons, claims/grids, evidence compendia
- MSL resources: FAQs, objection handlers, scientific response documents
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- 3-5 years of account management experience in a medical communications or healthcare agency (promotion and/or medical affairs).
- Demonstrated ownership of SOWs, budgets, timelines, and cross-functional orchestration.
- Proven success managing MLR/PRC submissions and stakeholder alignment in regulated environments.
- Comfort translating clinical/scientific content into clear deliverables and action plans (no writing required, but strong scientific fluency).
- Excellent client presence, meeting facilitation, and executive communication skills.
Tools & Systems (Preferred)
- Veeva PromoMats/Vault, Zinc or equivalent review platforms
- Project tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Monday.com, Asana), CRM (e.g., Salesforce)
- Proficiency in PowerPoint/Excel; familiarity with basic analytics dashboards
Nice-to-Haves
- Therapeutic exposure (e.g., oncology, immunology, CV/metabolic, rare disease, neurology).
- Experience with speaker operations, virtual event platforms, or congress logistics.
- Comfort with omnichannel strategy and measurement frameworks (reach, engagement, HCP behavior proxies).
Travel
- Occasional travel for client meetings, speaker programs, and congresses (estimate 10-20%, seasonally higher around major meetings).
