Study Coordinator / Patient Liaison - Berlin

We are looking for an experienced freelance medical professional for a position as a study coordinator / patient liaison in Berlin Germany.

Job Title: Oncology Companion (Bilingual - German & English)
Location: Berlin or surrounding area, Germany
Work Type: Full-time (Flexible, e.g., 30-40 hours/week)
Work Mode: Hybrid - 1-2 days/week in the office, remainder remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trust through empathetic, unscripted conversations with cancer patients, helping them explore clinical trial options.
  • Translate complex medical and research information into clear, patient-friendly language, including the purpose, process, and potential risks of clinical trials.
  • Identify and introduce relevant clinical studies based on general criteria such as cancer type, treatment setting, and location.
  • Support patients in having informed, collaborative discussions with their treating physicians about trial participation.
  • Facilitate initial contact between physicians and research sites when a trial appears suitable.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards, always respecting patient autonomy and informed consent.
  • Ensure all patient interactions are accurately documented and handled with strict confidentiality.
  • Provide ongoing emotional and logistical support throughout the patient's treatment journey.
  • Assist with language interpretation between German and English to ensure clear communication.
  • Coordinate practical aspects of care, including appointments, transportation, and follow-ups.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in German and English (spoken and written).
  • MD or equivalent is preferred.
  • CRA or Nursing background in Oncology
  • Experience working with oncology patients and/or in clinical trial settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Based in Berlin or surrounding area, with ability to work on-site occasionally.
